Jomsom Muktinath Trekking

BUNA’S fascinating trekking leads to ups and downs path, passing through many traditional villages along the way. This wonderful adventure begins with a flight to and from Jomsom, tiny thatched roofed villages; set among the terraced fields, makes an attractive picture with the backdrop of the magnificent snow range of Nilgiri, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The pleasant walk eventually leads to lower Mustang from Jomsom and to the highest spot of Muktinath one of the holiest pilgrimage place for the Hindu’s and Buddhist the trek leads back to Jomsom for the scenic sweeping flight towards Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with half day sight seeing tour.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 200 k.m. 5-6 hrs rides.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom 2,715m and begin trek to Kagbeni 2,810 m 3-4 hrs walks.

Day 05: Trek to Muktinath 3,760m. 4-5 hrs.

Day 06: Rest day at Muktinath.

Day 07: Trek to Jomsom. 4-5 hrs.

Day 08: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 10: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport you will be received by BUNA staff and transfer you to respective Hotels, where our guide will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trek, do’s and don’t and other related information that you might require while in Nepal.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with half day sight seeing tour.
After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 200 k.m. 5-6 hrs rides.
As per the drive time, transfer for the scenic driving journey to Pokhara. after 5-6 hours of good ride brings us to the stunning Pokhara Valley, on arrival at Pokhara transfer to Hotel. Pokhara is the second largest township in Nepal and enjoys a beautiful setting beside the large lake of Phewa, Rupa and Begnas.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom 2,715m and begin trek to Kagbeni 2,810 m 3-4 hrs walks.
From Jomsom, the trail leads on the Kaligandaki plains in the rainy season the road diverts to the right bank of the river plain, the walk is pleasant with few ups and down most of the way to the place of Ekali Bhatti (lonely inn) where there is three or four tea-houses at present, it used to be one tea-house when its got its name Ekali -Bhatti. From here the path splits into two ways the higher up leads to Muktinath well the other one leads you to upper Mustang and Tibet via Kagbeni. Our trail leads past Eklai-bhatti towards north west, the walking gets much easier on the gradual winding route as the the road widens as you walk further on the river bed towards the windswept village of Kagbeni for the overnight.

Day 05: Trek to Muktinath 3,760m. 4-5 hrs.
Walk leads to a slow uphill, with gradual path in some section on arriving at Jharkot village, another 1 -2 hours of climb brings you at the Muktinath area for the overnight stop in of the many good lodges.

Day 06: Rest day at Muktinath. A leisure day and with time to marvel the great view of Mt.Dhaulagiri, Mt.Tukuche and Nilgiri range of mountains visiting Muktinath Temple, in the auspicious time this place is flooded with pilgrims of both Hindu and Buddhist, the Temple of Muktinath and with its 108 water spout, which is also the source of Kaligandaki river. Afternoon free for independent activities.

Day 07: Trek to Jomsom. 4-5 hrs.
A good gradual walk on the downhill slope all the way to the Kaligandaki River Valley from here the path is almost level all the way to Jomsom.

Day 08: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara.
Early morning flight to Pokhara, on arrival our staff will pick you up for the short drive back to respective Hotel, afternoon sightseeing of Pokhara and boat ride.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu.
After a memorable time in Jomsom and Muktinath and the scenic Pokhara, morning drive on the busy highway to Kathmandu following the River Trisuli for few hours, and then reaching Kathmandu by mid or late afternoon, on arrival check in at the respective Hotel.

Day 10: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.
Depending upon your flight time, BUNA staff will transfer you to the International airport for the flight back home or to your respective destination.
